Job summary

Leidos seeks a Lead Substation Physical Engineer to drive high‑impact substation design projects from concept to completion. You will work on 12 kV–500 kV systems, applying expertise in digital logic design and AC/DC circuits to ensure safe, reliable layouts and grounding.

You’ll lead, review drawings, and coordinate with clients and internal teams. The role requires a PE and 8+ years in substation design, with opportunities for career growth, mentorship, and trainings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and 8+ years of substation physical design experience.
• Experience with grounding studies, lightning protection analysis, and lighting studies.
• Ability to communicate clearly with internal teams and clients.
• Proven ability to meet deadlines in fast-paced environments.
• Demonstrated leadership and teamwork, with initiative and autonomy.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in engineering contexts.
• High proficiency with engineering software and tools.
• Willingness to travel to project sites and client locations.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support the delivery of substation physical design projects, ensuring technical excellence and on-time performance.
• Partner with internal engineering groups and external clients to understand needs and deliver compliant solutions.
• Perform QA/QC reviews on substation design packages for accuracy and constructability.
• Read, design, and review one-lines, three-lines, plans, grounding layouts, and foundations.
• Create and verify bills of materials for substation components.
• Conduct site visits to gather data and validate designs.
