Job summary

The Green Recruitment Company is seeking an experienced Substation Engineering Manager to lead engineering and design activities for utility-scale solar, BESS, and renewable energy projects. The role oversees substation design, protection & control, and coordination with external consultants from design through commissioning.

Ideal candidates have 8+ years in electrical engineering with significant substation design experience, strong leadership, and a solid background in utility-scale projects

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years of electrical engineering experience with significant substation design exposure.
• Experience leading engineering teams, consultants, or multidisciplinary projects.
• Strong knowledge of medium- and high-voltage substations, protection & control, grounding, and electrical equipment.
• Background across utility, transmission, power generation, or renewable energy projects.
• Knowledge of IEEE/ANSI standards, NEC, NESC, and utility requirements.
• Strong communication, project management, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead substation engineering and design activities across multiple projects.
• Oversee one-line diagrams, physical layouts, grounding, protection & control, and equipment specifications.
• Manage external engineering consultants and ensure designs meet quality, constructability, cost, and compliance requirements.
• Coordinate with utilities, vendors, procurement, construction, and project management teams.
• Support equipment procurement, construction, testing, commissioning, and field engineering.
• Establish engineering standards, quality-control processes, and design best practices.
• Mentor engineering professionals and drive continuous improvement.
