Job summary

Ellaway Blues Consulting, a leading EPC energy solutions firm, seeks a Lead Substation Engineer to drive technical design and project execution for substations and switchyards.

You will mentor junior engineers, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and clients on RFIs and design reviews, review vendor documents for compliance with ASCE, AISC, ACI, IBC and NESC, and contribute to guidelines and standardized deliverables while applying best practices. Must have U.S. work authorization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering from an accredited program.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in substations, switchyards, or power generation projects.
• Strong technical knowledge of ASCE, AISC, ACI, IBC, NESC, and related standards.
• Proficient in SAP2000, Hilti, MathCAD, or similar software.
• Ability to manage multiple projects within tight deadlines.
• U.S. work authorization (sponsorship not available).

Responsibilities

• Execute technical design for substations and switchyards, serving as Engineer of Record where required.
• Perform and review structural calculations, designs, and analyses.
• Provide oversight and review of vendor documents to ensure compliance with specifications.
• Mentor and support junior engineers while fostering technical development across the team.
• Collaborate with EPC teams and clients to manage RFIs, design reviews, and engineering support.
• Contribute to the development of guidelines, procedures, and standardized deliverables.
• Stay current with evolving industry standards and apply best practices to projects.
• Ensure quality checks and compliance with relevant codes, standards, and project requirements.
