Job summary

Ellaway Blues Consulting, a leading EPC energy solutions firm, seeks a Lead Substation Engineer to drive technical design and project execution for substations and switchyards.

You will mentor junior engineers, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and clients on RFIs and design reviews, review vendor documents for compliance with ASCE, AISC, ACI, IBC and NESC, and contribute to guidelines and standardized deliverables while applying best practices. Must have U.S. work authorization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering from an accredited program.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in substations, switchyards, or power generation projects.
• Strong technical knowledge of ASCE, AISC, ACI, IBC, NESC, and related standards.
• Proficient in SAP2000, Hilti, MathCAD, or similar software.
• Ability to manage multiple projects within tight deadlines.
• U.S. work authorization (sponsorship not available).

The Role:

The Lead Substation Engineer will lead and execute technical design work, ensuring excellence and consistency across all deliverables. You will work closely with multidisciplinary EPC teams and clients, contributing your expertise to project execution, design reviews, and engineering oversight. The Lead Substation Engineer's Required Qualifications:

• Ability to pass pre-employment background check and drug screening.

Desired Qualifications:

• Professional Engineer (PE) license in Structural discipline.
• Experience with dynamic foundation and vibration analysis.
• Previous exposure to Aconex or similar document control systems.
