Job summary

Ellaway Blues Consulting seeks a Lead Substation Engineer to drive the design of substations and switchyards within EPC projects in the power sector. You will lead technical design, perform reviews, and provide engineering oversight with cross-functional teams and clients.

The role emphasizes leadership, mentoring junior engineers, and maintaining compliance with ASCE, AISC, ACI, IBC, NESC. You will use SAP2000, MathCAD, and Hilti tools, manage multiple projects, and uphold rigorous quality and

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering from an accredited program.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in substations, switchyards, or power generation.
Strong knowledge of ASCE, AISC, ACI, IBC, NESC standards.
Proficient in SAP2000, Hilti, MathCAD or similar.
Ability to manage multiple projects to tight deadlines.
Strong communication, leadership, and mentoring skills.
U.S. work authorization (sponsorship not available).
Ability to pass pre-employment background check and drug screening.

Responsibilities

Lead technical design for substations and switchyards; Engineer of Record as needed.
Perform and review structural calculations, designs, analyses.
Review vendor documents for spec compliance.
Mentor junior engineers and develop the team.
Collaborate with EPC teams and clients on RFIs and design reviews.
Help develop guidelines, procedures, and standardized deliverables.
Stay current with industry standards and best practices.
Ensure quality checks and adherence to codes and project requirements.
