Job summary

Quanta Infrastructure Solutions Group in Atlanta seeks a Lead Designer - Substation to support design projects across the QISG platform, performing routine 2D/3D CAD tasks with a focus on accuracy, standards compliance, and substation design expertise. Proficiency with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, Inventor and SDS is preferred, with a strong background in HV substation construction.

You will collaborate with engineers and drafting teams, maintain quality drawing packages, and travel as needed

Qualifications

• Associates degree in Drafting & Design or equivalent certification required.
• Background in substation design with HV CAD/design experience.
• 10+ years in electric utility CAD/design for high voltage substations.
• Proficiency with 3D and/or smart design software (AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, Inventor, SDS).
• Strong teamwork and effective communication within a design/drafting environment.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a complex setting.

Responsibilities

• Work on design aspects from project inception to completion on various substation projects.
• Utilize 3D and/or smart design software for substation design.
• Demonstrate knowledge of quality control procedures to ensure high workmanship standards.
• Take ownership of the quality and accuracy of your work.
• Research information in catalogs, specifications, standards, or reference materials.
• Learn and use the document management system and suggest improvements.
• Adhere to corporate engineering practices and standards.
• Report potential problems with solutions to stakeholders.
• Travel occasionally to project sites as required.
