Job summary

Illinois Central College (ICC) in East Peoria, IL seeks a Lead Student Success Advisor to supervise a team of Student Success Advisors and advance holistic advising and retention initiatives.

The role reports to the Director of Academic Advisement and manages a caseload, uses data to drive improvements, and coordinates with program leaders to support student success and completion goals. This is a full-time position.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Three years of experience in academic advising/coaching, student retention, or related student affairs experience.
• Ability to relate to students of diverse backgrounds and experiences and a commitment to student equity.
• Knowledge of Microsoft applications and ability to use technology effectively in the execution of job duties.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to establish professional relationships.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate student success through holistic, educative advising that treats advising as teaching and learning.
• Empower students to develop academic plans and navigate college with resources.
• Improve processes using data to ensure services meet student needs.
• Collaborate to coordinate efforts addressing student needs and outcomes.
• Engage in professional development to stay current with best practices.
• Supervise Student Success Advisors, onboard/train staff, and ensure consistent advising practices.
• Conduct annual performance reviews per HR policies.
• Communicate changes and support for other clusters as needed.
• Manage a caseload of students and conduct advising sessions via various channels.
• Follow up with at-risk students and refer to support services.
• Conduct outreach for retention and reengagement.
• Maintain detailed student progress records and next steps in the advising system.
• Generate reports on course needs and coordinate with departments on scheduling.
• Assist with Visit Days and group advising events.
