Job summary

RK&K seeks a Structure Inspection Project Manager to lead our Virginia inspection practice. You will manage bridge, tunnel, and ancillary structure projects, mentor staff, and drive program growth while leveraging UAS, 3D modeling, and NBIS standards.

Ideal candidates bring PE licensure, 10+ years of NBIS-related leadership, strong client communication, and a track record of delivering compliant inspection projects with safety at the forefront.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related field.
• PE license required; multi-state licensure preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive bridge/tunnel/structural inspection experience including NBIS leadership.
• Current FHWA/NHI Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges certification and refresher training.
• Experience delivering NBIS-compliant inspection projects for bridges and related assets.
• Strong knowledge of NBIS, SNBI, AASHTO, FHWA, VDOT requirements.
• Proficiency with bridge management systems and data collection platforms.
• Experience leading staff, managing budgets and resources.
• Strong communication and client relationship skills.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Manage bridge, tunnel, culvert, and related structure inspection projects with scope, schedule, budget, quality and client communication.
• Lead inspection teams and oversee field activities, reports and project deliverables.
• Prepare, review, and approve inspection reports and technical deliverables.
• Apply inspection technologies including UAS/drones, 3D modeling, and nondestructive testing.
• Coordinate with structural engineers to communicate findings and develop actions.
• Monitor project financial performance, budgets, invoicing, and progress reporting.
• Serve as technical resource and QA/QC for inspection activities and standards.
• Mentor staff through training, credential management, and field leadership.
• Support client relationships, proposals, and industry engagement.
