Job summary

Blue Origin is building reusable, safe space vehicles and ground support equipment for New Glenn at LC-36, Cape Canaveral, FL. This role focuses on leading structural design for large steel systems, mentoring junior engineers, and driving design standards with emphasis on FEA and structural integrity.

You will oversee fabrication and testing of ground support equipment and interfaces with aerospace tooling, contributing to a culture of safety and collaboration within Blue Origin Operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering or similar discipline.
• 10+ years designing/analysing large steel structural systems (towers, tooling, structures).
• Experience with FEA tools for structural/mechanical analysis.
• Experience designing/analysing bolted and welded connections.
• Knowledge of IBC, ASCE, AISC, AWS standards.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• U.S. citizen or eligible to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Lead structural design for large mechanical/structural systems; mentor junior staff.
• Define and drive structural design solutions and standards.
• Perform and review FEA and hand calculations for complex steel structures.
• Oversee external design/fabrication partners through full project lifecycle, including assembly and testing.
