Job summary

Sargent & Lundy in Reston, VA is seeking a Project Lead Structural Engineer to guide a team of structural engineers, interface with clients and other disciplines, and manage a variety of projects. You will apply your knowledge of materials, steel and concrete design, and oversee calculations and drawings.

Essential qualifications include a BSCE from an ABET-accredited program, 10+ years of relevant experience, and proficiency with major analysis tools and design codes.

Qualifications

• BSCE with emphasis in Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Ten or more years of experience in design and analysis of industrial/heavy commercial or nuclear facility structures.
• Proficiency with structural analysis software such as STAAD, SAP2000, SAFE, STRUDL, or ANSYS.
• Proficiency with design codes and standards such as ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• MSCE degree (preferred).
• PE or SE license (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Guide a team of structural engineers and interface with clients and other disciplines.
• Direct the preparation and review of design calculations, specifications, reports and drawings.
• Supervise and mentor others in the development of quality engineering deliverables.
• Perform structural analysis and design of steel frames, concrete members, and foundations.
• Travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and site verification.
