Job summary

Huntington Ingalls Industries, Newport News Shipbuilding seeks an Engineer Structural 3 in Newport News, VA to analyze and develop structural specifications for metallic, non-metallic and composite ship structures and related systems.

Requirements include ABET-accredited engineering degree with 5+ years' exempt experience, or a Master's with 3+ years; U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain security clearance. Relocation assistance is available; first shift schedule.

Responsibilities

Serve as technical expert for O41 Plant Engineering on structural systems.
Provide leadership to internal/external customers on structural matters.
Perform design reviews of contractor submittals for codes and specs.
Prepare and review LRSP impact studies for critical structural systems.
Mentor younger engineers within the O41 Plant Engineering organization.
Conduct structural evaluations and infrastructure assessments in a fast-paced facility.
Direct work assignments of consultants and contractors to ensure safety and compliance.
Support strategic business development and initiatives as assigned.
