Job summary

HII Newport News Shipbuilding is seeking a civil/structural engineer to analyze, research and develop structural specifications for complex ship systems and components. You will assess damage tolerance, durability, and loads, and support modeling using various software tools.

The role involves drafting blueprints, supervising construction projects, and ensuring regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate has an ABET-accredited engineering degree (Bachelor's required; Master’s preferred) and will

Responsibilities

Analyze, research and develop structural engineering specifications for product design and operation.
Assess damage tolerance, durability, design allowables and structural modeling.
Draft blueprints and supervise construction projects while ensuring regulatory compliance.
Coordinate with consultants, contractors and enforcement agencies to keep projects on time and within budget.
