RTX in Huntsville, AL is seeking a Mechanical Engineer II – Structural Engineer to perform detailed structural analyses across programs. The role requires hands-on use of major analysis tools and collaboration with senior staff to meet cost and schedule constraints. Travel to test sites and peer reviews are part of the duties.

Qualified candidates have a STEM degree with 2+ years of relevant experience and must be eligible for U.S. government security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required.

Qualifications

• STEM degree with 2+ years of relevant experience; advanced degree preferred.
• Experience with structural analysis using PATRAN/NASTRAN/ANSYS/ABAQUS or equivalent.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain DoD clearance required.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed structural analyses to support all program phases.
• Generate test plans to validate analyses and verify hardware compliance with requirements.
• Analyze test data to validate models and generate mechanical loads and environments.
• Collaborate with experienced analysts on problems of moderate complexity to provide answers within cost/schedule constraints.
• Coordinate and lead technical peer reviews ensuring technical accuracy of work products.
• Present results to internal stakeholders and external customers.
• Generate detailed archival technical reports.
• Travel to test sites to support tests or design discussions.
