Job summary

Thomas Young Group in San Diego seeks a Lead Structural Engineer to guide projects from concept through construction administration, coordinating multidisciplinary teams.

You will design anchorage systems, assess framing, mentor junior engineers, and prepare proposals that showcase innovative solutions and technical expertise.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Architectural, Structural, or Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis.
• Active California Civil P.E. license.
• Proficiency in structural design across steel, timber, concrete, and masonry.
• Strong knowledge of CBC and ASCE 7-16 (Chapters 13 & 15).
• Familiarity with DSA (Division of the State Architect) and/or HCAI project standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead projects from conceptual design through construction administration, ensuring seamless coordination.
• Provide design support and develop anchorage systems for architectural elements, mechanical and electrical equipment, and specialty structures.
• Assess framing systems for compliance with support requirements and optimize design solutions.
• Oversee and mentor junior engineers to maintain high technical standards within the team.
• Draft project proposals and deliver them to clients, highlighting innovative solutions and technical expertise.

CBC knowledge

Education
