Job summary

LJB Inc. is seeking an experienced Senior Structural Bridge Engineer to lead bridge design within our Transportation Practice in Raleigh, North Carolina.

You will design projects from concept through final delivery, mentor team members, and coordinate with DOTs, municipalities, and clients to ensure quality results. The role emphasizes leadership, collaboration, and a commitment to delivering safe, sustainable transportation infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with a Structural emphasis.
• P.E. license.
• 10+ years of bridge/culvert design experience.
• DOT bridge design experience and knowledge of DOT guidelines.
• Familiarity with AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications.

Responsibilities

• Perform engineering design tasks for bridge projects from preliminary to final design.
• Develop specifications, cost estimates, and prepare final bid packages.
• Mentor and assist junior engineers in developing final design plans.
• Coordinate design activities with design staff, subcontractors, and client managers.
• Lead transportation-related professional organizations and participate in project decisions.
• Identify schedule and cost variances and propose corrective actions.
