Job summary

CFD Research Corporation seeks an experienced structural engineer to lead our growing FEA team in Huntsville, AL. You will oversee static, dynamic, modal, fatigue, and buckling analyses, driving rapid design decisions and client briefings.

The role requires mentoring, QA oversight, and coordination with the Prototype, Test and Evaluation Division. Travel to our Hollywood, AL center is expected multiple times per month.

Qualifications

• US Citizenship and eligibility to obtain/maintain a secret security clearance.
• Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 10+ years hands-on experience with FEA.
• 3+ years experience in team leadership, project leadership or technical mentorship.
• Deep understanding of linear static, dynamic, modal, fatigue, and buckling analyses.
• Proficiency in Abaqus and LS-DYNA.
• Ability to perform classical hand calculations to validate FEA models, boundary conditions, and load paths.
• Knowledge of isotropic and basic composite material behavior, yield criteria and fracture mechanics basics.

Responsibilities

• Lead a growing structural analysis team delivering FEA results and design recommendations.
• Ensure QA on all work products and brief results to customers.
• Interface with Prototype, Test and Evaluation Division engineers, including travel to Hollywood, AL for in-person meetings three times monthly.
