Job summary

The Boeing Company in Mesa, AZ seeks a Lead Structural Analysis Engineer to mentor a team of analysts and deliver rigorous strength analyses for metallic and composite components.

You will develop analytical methods, run finite element models, coordinate with IPTs, support certification and test activities, and help shape product designs through lifecycle stages. This role requires strong communication with program leaders, willingness to travel 5–10%, and active U.S. security clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace, Aeronautical or Material Sciences).
• 9+ years of related work experience or equivalent.
• Experience performing stress analysis on composite structures, laminates, bonded assemblies or related structures.
• 7+ years experience with finite element modeling structural analysis methods and tools (Hypermesh, MSC Nastran/PATRAN, ABAQUS, Stress Check).
• Prior experience with manufacturing/production systems.
• Advanced knowledge of aircraft structure, composite materials, properties, design practices and manufacturing processes.
• Mentoring of early and mid-level career engineers and consultation/direction of work for other platforms.
• Ability and willingness to travel 5 - 10% domestically.
• Active U.S. Secret Security Clearance and ability to obtain Special Program Access (U.S. Citizenship required).

Responsibilities

• Lead development, integration and documentation of structural requirements to establish the system design.
• Coordinate with other engineering groups to establish the product's environment.
• Guide product design and verify structural integrity using analytical methods, finite element models and other tools across the product lifecycle.
• Lead development of test plans and configurations, support test execution and analyze/report results to verify compliance with requirements.
• Define and document certification and test results to substantiate for customers and regulatory agencies that requirements are satisfied.
• Support in-service products by leading investigations into failures and proposing improvements.
• Develop analytical processes/tools to improve effectiveness, quality and efficiency of development efforts.
• Work under minimal direction.
