Job summary

Endeavor Health Clinical Operations seeks a Sterile Processing Technician lead to coordinate daily SPD activities, mentor staff, and act as the liaison to Surgical Services. You will ensure decontamination, labeling, and proper distribution of sterile items while supporting quality improvements.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, CBSPD/CRCST certification, and 2 years in sterile processing; Outlook proficiency is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Certification: CBSPD or CRCST upon hire.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in healthcare sterile processing or surgical/procedural area.
• Preferred 2 years of experience as a lead or in staff education.
• Proficiency in Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily activities of the Sterile Processing Department: decontamination, instrument set assembly, medical device processing, patient-care equipment processing, case cart processing, disposal of refuse, distribution of supplies.
• Maintain daily Process, Distribution, and Communication Logs and provide production statistics to leadership.
• Act as primary mentor for new technicians and provide continuous training for all technicians.
• Serve as daily liaison between Sterile Processing and Surgical Services, communicating daily issues with OR staff and SPD staff.
• Participate in ongoing departmental quality improvement program through leadership, education, and training of all technicians.
• Manage all processes in the absence of the supervisor or manager.
• Promote effective interpersonal and interdepartmental relationships while maintaining professional conduct.
• Assist in running the department when the supervisor is unavailable, inform management of needed items and supplies, locate instrumentation, and adjust workflow to meet OR demand.
• Oversee daily departmental needs, provide hospital and affiliate facilities with sterile processed materials, execute established procedures for decontamination, assembly, packaging, sterilization, and surgical case cart set-up, ensuring quality patient care.
• Ensure completion of decontamination and correct labeling and placement of sterile items for distribution.
