Job summary

Advocate Health seeks an experienced Sterile Processing professional for the Sterile Processing Services department. The role involves handling the full sterile processing cycle, guiding SPD staff, and stepping in as Supervisor when required.

You will support department operations, manage case carts, coordinate with OR staff, and ensure equipment is maintained and compliant. This full-time position requires CSPDT certification and relevant SPD experience.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED with two years' Sterile Processing experience.
• Certification as CSPDT or other sterile processing certification is required.
• Sterile Processing Management certification encouraged within three years of hire.

Responsibilities

• Expert in all aspects of the sterile processing cycle and provide guidance to SPD staff.
• Assumes role and responsibilities of Sterile Processing Supervisor when assigned.
• Assist Supervisor to maintain department production by leading SPD employees.
• Assist with case carts management and communicate issues to the SPD Supervisor.
• Discuss instrument needs clearly with SPD Supervisor, SPD Liaisons, and OR Coordinators.
• Ensure equipment functions properly and report issues to the SPD Supervisor.
• Assist with maintenance of departmental compliance logs.
• Assist with policy implementation and enforcement.
• Participate in special projects and interdepartmental committees as assigned.
• Protect staff and facility by following policies to prevent bloodborne and airborne disease spread.
