Job summary

Extreme Steel is a growing structural and miscellaneous steel fabrication company seeking a highly organized and hands‑on Project Manager to oversee the execution of fabrication and erection projects from award through closeout.

The Project Manager will be responsible for managing schedules, budgets, materials, subcontractors, and customer communication to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of project management experience in steel fabrication, construction, metal manufacturing, or industrial environments.
  • Strong understanding of structural steel, miscellaneous metals, or construction project workflows.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, shop drawings, and specifications.
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and customer-facing skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage structural and miscellaneous steel projects from contract award through final completion.
  • Review contracts, drawings, specifications, and scope to ensure full understanding of project requirements.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules in coordination with fabrication, purchasing, and field teams.
  • Coordinate with Estimating to ensure proper handoff of awarded projects.
  • Work closely with Purchasing to ensure timely procurement of materials, subcontracted services, and equipment.
  • Monitor project budgets, costs, and labor hours to maintain profitability targets.
  • Track and manage change orders, RFIs, submittals, and project documentation.
  • Serve as primary contact for customers, general contractors, engineers, and vendors.
  • Coordinate shop drawings, detailing, and approvals to maintain project timelines.
  • Work with Production and Shop Supervisors to prioritize fabrication schedules.
  • Coordinate field installation schedules with erection crews and subcontractors.
  • Identify potential risks, delays, or cost impacts early and develop solutions.
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with safety, quality, and company standards.
  • Review invoices, subcontractor billing, and material costs for accuracy.
  • Maintain accurate project files, reports, and status updates.
  • Participate in project meetings, job site visits, and internal planning meetings.
  • Support continuous improvement of project management processes and workflows.
  • Assist leadership with forecasting workload, staffing, and material needs.
