Job summary

The Connecticut Valley Hospital (CVH) Power Plant in Middletown, part of the Connecticut Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, seeks a Lead Stationary Engineer to oversee daily plant operations on the 2nd shift. This full-time role requires strong leadership and technical expertise in steam-based systems.

Responsibilities include supervising staff, maintaining heating, cooling and related equipment, ensuring safe procedures, coordinating with internal units and vendors, and

Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge of and ability to operate, maintain, inspect and repair boiler and engine room equipment.
• Knowledge of and ability to maintain building utility systems including steam, water and plumbing lines.
• Willingness to supervise staff, train, evaluate performance and coordinate with other units.

Responsibilities

• Leads daily plant operations by planning workflow, setting priorities, and ensuring continuous functioning of heating, cooling, and related mechanical systems.
• Supervises staff through scheduling, work review, training, and performance evaluations.
• Maintains safe plant procedures, including water treatment, routine testing, and compliance with standards.
• Coordinates with internal units, agencies, and vendors; may prepare budgets, reports, and equipment recommendations.
• Performs maintenance and minor repairs, including steam trap inspections and insulation removal when needed.
