Job summary

State of Connecticut’s Connecticut Valley Hospital in Middletown seeks a Lead Stationary Engineer to lead daily plant operations, manage steam heating, cooling systems, and related equipment, and supervise staff ensuring continuous operation.

The role requires extensive knowledge of boiler and engine room systems, performance of inspections, and coordination with internal units and vendors. Applicants may be subject to a medical exam and drug screening.

Qualifications

• Four (4) years of experience in the operation, maintenance and repair of steam heating and generating equipment.
• One (1) year of the General Experience must have included the independent performance of the full range of tasks involved in the operation, maintenance and repair of steam heating and generating equipment.

Responsibilities

• Plans plant workflow and determines priorities.
• Schedules, assigns, oversees, and reviews work involved in the operation, maintenance and repair of heating, generating, hot water and refrigeration equipment.
• Establishes and maintains plant procedures.
• Provides staff training and assistance.
• Conducts or assists in conducting performance evaluations.
• Acts as liaison with operating units, agencies, and outside officials regarding unit policies and procedures.
