Job summary

Connecticut Valley Hospital in Middletown, part of the Connecticut Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS), seeks a Lead Stationary Engineer. The role oversees the power plant operations, supervising staff, ensuring safe, compliant boiler and related systems, and coordinating with internal units and external vendors.

Responsibilities include maintenance, budgeting input, and performance evaluations while maintaining water treatment and reporting as required.

Qualifications

• Four (4) years of experience in operation, maintenance and repair of steam heating and generating equipment.
• One (1) year of the General Experience must include independent performance of the full range of tasks in operation, maintenance and repair of steam heating and generating equipment.

Responsibilities

• Leads daily plant operations by planning workflow, setting priorities and ensuring continuous functioning of heating, cooling and related mechanical systems.
• Supervises staff through scheduling, work review, training and performance evaluations.
• Maintains safe and efficient plant procedures including water treatment, routine testing and compliance with standards.
• Coordinates with internal units, agencies and vendors; may prepare budgets, reports and equipment recommendations.
• Performs and oversees maintenance and minor repairs, including steam trap inspections and insulation removal.
