Job summary

Ursa Major in Colorado seeks a Senior Responsible Engineer for Solid Missile Systems to lead SRM development across programs, directing a multi-disciplinary team from concept through qualification and production readiness.

You will own the product architecture, drive systems engineering rigor, manage risk, and coordinate design, testing, and qualification activities to deliver production-ready hardware for defense applications.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated technical leadership across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Strong systems thinking and ability to balance performance, reliability, cost, and manufacturability.
• Experience with SRM-specific subsystems including cases, nozzles, insulation, and grain design.
• Ability to lead design maturity, qualification testing, and risk reduction activities.
• Direct customer interaction with government and defense contractors is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own SRM architecture design and evolution across programs.
• Lead product maturity from concept through development and qualification.
• Coordinate qualification activities including design-for-qualification and hazard analysis testing.
• Oversee propulsion performance analyses: mass properties, trajectory, thermal, and structural margins.
• Ensure manufacturability and unit cost considerations in design decisions.
• Lead customer technical interchanges and deliverables, including CoDR, PDR, CDR reports.
