Job summary

Abbott in Madison, WI seeks a Supervisor of Specimen Processing to oversee night and weekend operations, staffing, and data reporting. The role leads the department, coaches staff, and ensures quality and productivity while maintaining safety and GMP standards.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in a lab with leadership experience, strong computer skills, and the ability to travel within sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Life Sciences, Business, or related field; or high school/GED with 2 years relevant experience in lieu.
• 3+ years of experience working in a laboratory, medical or high throughput production environment.
• 2+ years of leadership experience.
• 2+ years using computers to include Internet navigation, email usage, MS Office.
• Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Lead and empower staff to meet quality and productivity goals set for the shift and department.
• Manage daily shift operations; organize workflow, redirect staff, maintain lab equipment and delegate tasks.
• Organize and lead routine team meetings and 1-on-1 employee meetings.
• Support and coach direct reports through career and professional development.
• Monitor and provide feedback on employee performance metrics including attendance, productivity and quality.
• Prepare and conduct employee feedback and disciplinary action per policy.
• Recruit employees that meet core values.
• Investigate and resolve test record and automation problems to maintain turnaround time.
• Perform root cause analysis for deviations and implement corrective actions.
• Support the Quality Management System and GDP documentation.
• Develop department goals with leadership and align with priorities.
• Support quality/process improvements, SOP development, and audits.
