Job summary

Lockheed Martin Space in Severn, MD seeks a Senior Thermal Analyst to design and analyze spacecraft thermal systems, including RF and power electronics, for on-orbit environments.

You will model radiative heat transfer using Thermal Desktop and perform box/board level analyses, generate technical reports, and present results to engineering teams and Program Office. Collaboration across disciplines and support for TVAC testing are expected.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of heat transfer and thermodynamics related to space applications.
• Proficiency with Thermal Desktop, Ansys Electronics Desktop (AEDT)/IcePak, or other thermal analysis software.
• 9 years of professional experience with a related Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or equivalent experience/combined education; or 7 years of professional experience with a related Master’s degree; or 4 years of professional experience required with a related PhD.
• Excellent communication skills (technical writing and presentation) and use of relevant Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Provide thermal design and analysis for spacecraft components and subsystems.
• Model radiative heat transfer in on-orbit space environment using Thermal Desktop.
• Conduct box and board level analyses with AEDT/IcePak.
• Prepare technical reports and data packages for peer and customer reviews.
• Present results to payload/spacecraft design teams and Program Office personnel.
• Support TVAC testing planning and post-test data correlation.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to meet producibility and cost goals.
