Job summary

Blue Origin’s Advanced Concepts and Enterprise Engineering team seeks a Senior Radiation Effects Engineer to plan, execute, and optimize radiation testing for space hardware. You will lead test programs (TID, DDD, SEE), develop custom setups with automated data collection, and advise on parts selection to support mission radiation hardness.

The role requires strong electronics knowledge, hands-on test hardware experience, and collaboration across engineering teams.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, Nuclear Science or related field with 7+ years of space radiation effects testing experience.
• Hands-on experience developing component test and measurement hardware for radiation effects test.
• Strong grasp of radiation effects on electronics, and on digital/analog circuitry.
• Experience with laboratory test equipment (power supplies, signal generators, oscilloscopes, etc.).
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to work across teams.
• U.S. citizen/national or authorized to work in the U.S.; willingness for travel.

Responsibilities

• Develop radiation test plans and reports (TID, DDD, SEE) per industry standards.
• Lead radiation tests at external facilities (up to 25% travel).
• Create automated data collection and processing setups for radiation testing.
• Evaluate radiation test data to inform parts selection.
• Mentor teammates on test standards and best practices.
• Maintain capabilities to meet state-of-the-art radiation testing requirements.
