Job summary

Chartwells Higher Ed Dining Services is hiring for a full‑time Sous Chef at Univ. of Maryland - Baltimore County in Baltimore, MD. The role involves assisting the Executive Chef, supervising cooks, and ensuring quality, safety, and efficiency in food preparation.

Schedule is Tuesday to Saturday, 12:30 pm - 9:00 pm. Competitive hourly pay range of $23.00 to $26.00 per hour; benefits and opportunities for advancement may apply. Online applications accepted only.

Qualifications

• Prior supervisory experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Cooks and prepares food following approved recipes and production standards.
• Supervises hourly food service associates; interviewing, scheduling, payroll, training and reviews.
• Stores food in designated areas following sanitation procedures.
• Ensures proper food handling, presentation, and serving temperatures.
• Maintains sanitation of equipment, supplies and utensils.
• Interacts with customers to resolve complaints in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
• Demonstrates understanding of daily menu items and explains them to associates and customers.
