Job summary

Compass Group USA's Culinaire unit is seeking a full-time Sous Chef at the Detroit Institute of Art, Detroit, MI. You will assist the Executive Chef, oversee cooks and food-service staff, and take responsibility in the Executive Chef's absence.

The role requires leadership experience, with a schedule Wednesday through Sunday and hours that may vary. Pay ranges from $25.00 to $27.50 per hour, with online applications accepted.

Qualifications

• Ability to follow approved recipes and production standards.

Responsibilities

• Cooks and prepares food following approved recipes and production standards.
• Supervises hourly food service associates, including scheduling and training.
• Stores food in designated areas following all safety procedures.
• Ensures proper food handling, presentation, and serving temperatures.
• Maintains sanitation of equipment, supplies and utensils; keeps work areas clean.
• Interacts with customers to resolve complaints in a friendly manner.
• Demonstrates understanding of daily menu items and explains them to staff and customers.
• Keeps up with peak production and service hours.
• Monitors inventory and deliveries; informs supervisor when low.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
