Placements24 is seeking a seasoned Lead Solar PV Project Manager to oversee utility-scale and commercial solar PV projects from development through to handover in South Africa. You will lead project teams, manage budgets and schedules, and ensure safety and quality across all stages.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Engineering or Construction Management, 6+ years PM experience (4+ in solar), and PM certification is highly desirable.

• 6+ years of project management experience, with 4+ years on solar PV projects.
• Experience managing large-scale utility or commercial solar projects.
• PM certifications (PMP or equivalent) highly desirable.

About the Role

Our client, a rapidly growing entity in the renewable energy space, is seeking a seasoned Lead Solar PV Project Manager to oversee key projects in Welkom, Free State. This role is responsible for the end-to-end management of utility-scale and commercial solar photovoltaic (PV) projects, from initial development and design through to construction, commissioning, and handover. You will lead project teams, manage budgets, schedules, and resources, ensuring that projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The ideal candidate possesses strong leadership abilities, a deep understanding of solar PV technology, and extensive experience in project management within the energy sector. This position requires excellent stakeholder management skills, negotiation prowess, and the ability to navigate complex regulatory environments. You will be instrumental in driving the success of our client's solar energy portfolio and contributing to the transition towards cleaner energy sources in South Africa. Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Civil, Mechanical), Construction Management, or a related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in project management, with at least 4 years focused on solar PV projects.
• Demonstrated experience managing large-scale utility or commercial solar projects.
• Strong understanding of solar PV technology, system design, and construction best practices.
• Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6).
• Excellent leadership, team management, and interpersonal skills.
• Proven ability to manage budgets, negotiate contracts, and resolve conflicts.
• Familiarity with South African renewable energy policies and grid connection requirements.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• PMP or equivalent project management certification is highly desirable.
