Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a skilled backend engineer in Alabama to design and build enterprise-grade APIs in Java using Spring Boot and Spring Cloud. The role emphasizes microservices, API security, and scaling across OpenShift environments.

You will collaborate with mobile teams and QA, implement RESTful APIs, and own full lifecycle maintenance from development to production, with a focus on reliability and compliance.

Qualifications

• Strong proficiency in Java backend development with Spring Boot and Spring Cloud for enterprise-grade APIs.
• Designing and developing microservices architectures with service decomposition and versioning.
• Hands-on experience deploying microservices on OpenShift/Kubernetes with containerization (Docker) and environment deployments.
• Solid understanding of RESTful API design, contract-first development, OpenAPI documentation, proper HTTP semantics, and standardized error handling.
• Experience integrating backend APIs with mobile platforms (iOS and Android) ensuring performance and secure data exchange.
• Knowledge of API security including OAuth2, JWT, mutual TLS, and token management in regulated banking environments.
• Familiarity with API gateways, routing, throttling, authentication, logging, and monitoring for mobile-facing APIs.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines for Java microservices and OpenShift deployments.
• Ability to support APIs through full lifecycle: development, testing, production releases, monitoring, and remediation.
• Experience working in large-scale enterprise and financial systems with compliance and high-availability expectations.

• Extensive experience designing and developing microservices architectures, including service decomposition, inter-service communication, resilience patterns, and backward-compatible API versioning.
• Hands‑on experience deploying and running microservices on OpenShift/Kubernetes, including containerization (Docker), configuration management, scaling, and environment‑specific deployments (DEV, QA, UAT, PROD).
• Solid understanding of RESTful API design principles, including contract‑first development, OpenAPI/Swagger documentation, proper HTTP semantics, and standardized error handling.
• Experience integrating backend APIs with mobile platforms (iOS and Android), ensuring performance, reliability, and secure data exchange for customer‑facing mobile applications.
• Strong knowledge of API security, including OAuth2, JWT, mutual TLS, client credentials, token management, and secure access patterns required in regulated banking environments.
• Familiarity with API gateways and edge services, such as routing, throttling, authentication, logging, and monitoring of mobile‑facing APIs.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines for Java microservices, including automated builds, testing, quality gates, and deployment to OpenShift.
• Proven ability to support APIs through the full lifecycle, from development and testing through production releases, post‑deployment monitoring, and defect remediation.
• Experience working in large‑scale enterprise and financial systems, with awareness of compliance, audit requirements, and high‑availability expectations.
• Strong collaboration skills, working closely with mobile app teams, QA, product owners, and platform teams during feature delivery, redesign initiatives, and coordinated releases.
