Job summary

JPMorganChase in Columbus seeks a Lead Software Engineer to balance hands-on development with technical leadership across large-scale distributed platforms. You will set direction, raise engineering standards, and enable predictable delivery of critical applications.

You will partner with product managers, architects, and teams to translate needs into scalable, well-architected solutions, drive modern practices across the full SDLC, and coach engineers to deliver features with strong quality,

Qualifications

Formal training in software engineering with 5+ years of applied experience.
Production-grade services ownership including reliability, incident remediation, and on-call readiness.
Cloud and container platforms with modern deployment practices (Kubernetes).
Ability to lead cross-functional incident, problem, and change activities with clear communication.
Drive CI/CD and automated releases across application and platform components.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers and foster strong engineering culture.

Responsibilities

Lead end-to-end application development in partnership with site reliability engineering for delivery across the software development lifecycle, ensuring scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions.
Drive technical design and architecture for distributed application platforms, balancing performance, resiliency, cost, and delivery speed.
Build and enhance software capabilities supporting analytics and data platforms (SAS Viya, AWS, Databricks) with clear ownership of integration patterns and readiness.
Develop and maintain platform services that enable onboarding, configuration, environment management, user migrations, and governed access.
Partner with product managers to refine requirements, roadmap delivery, and translate business outcomes into epics and stories.
Establish and enforce engineering standards (coding, API, testing, security) and ensure quality via peer review and automation.
Lead modernization initiatives to reduce technical debt and improve developer productivity and system maintainability.
