Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a Lead Software Engineer in Kansas to guide a team of 4–5 third-party engineers. You will shape the SDP platform architecture, drive API and system integration efforts, and oversee end-to-end delivery of microservices-based applications.

You will review code, mentor developers, and coordinate offshore resources while preparing clear technical specifications and documentation. A strong background in Java, Spring, Hibernate, SQL, and REST is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Seven+ years of software engineering with API and system integration focus.
• Experience with front-end: Angular, JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, CSS.
• Experience with back-end: Java 8+, Spring, Hibernate, SQL, REST.
• Strong diagnostic, troubleshooting, and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of 4–5 third-party software engineers.
• Establish patterns, best practices, and architectures for the SDP platform.
• Implement microservices-based applications.
• Perform code reviews and coordinate team tasks.
• Lead requirements analysis and system architecture.
• Build database schemas and select development approaches.
• Prepare technical specifications and task estimates.
• Conduct Scrum ceremonies (planning, grooming, retrospectives).
• Mentor team members and prepare technical documentation.
