Job summary

Amentum is seeking a Software Engineer Lead in Colorado Springs to guide the design, development, and delivery of mission software for NORAD ITW/AA and the NISSC 3 contract. You will lead software teams to meet customer requirements and integrate full‑stack applications, with a focus on containerization.

Onsite at the Chidlaw Building and Peterson Space Force Base, Colorado, the role balances hands‑on development with strategic leadership, mentoring junior engineers, and upholding DevSecOps

Qualifications

• Active Secret clearance required.
• AT Level II certification (Security+ CE or equivalent).
• 12+ years overall software/engineering experience.
• 10+ years directly related software development experience.
• Experience leading software development teams.
• Experience mentoring junior developers.
• Containerization experience (Docker/Kubernetes).
• Experience with Agile development and timely delivery.

Responsibilities

• Lead software engineering teams in design, development, and delivery of reliable mission software.
• Develop and integrate full-stack applications; familiarity with containerization.
• Maintain high standards of code quality, security, and testing throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Collaborate with product owners, scrum-masters, stakeholders, and cross‑functional teams to translate operational needs into clear, actionable technical plans.
• Advocate for and implement modern development practices, including automation, DevSecOps principles, and robust CI/CD pipelines.
• Mentor and support junior software developers, fostering professional growth and skill development.
• Understand cybersecurity principles and compliance requirements relevant to mission or enterprise systems.
• Balance hands‑on development with strategic leadership responsibilities.
