Job summary

UnitedHealth Group, via Optum Tech, is seeking an experienced full‑stack engineer to lead an AI-enabled development lifecycle and modernize a brownfield health‑care application within the FLEX/Optum Tech platform. You will influence design, coding, testing, and deployment while ensuring regulatory alignment and interoperability.

The role requires 8+ years in full‑stack development, expertise in C# or Java, healthcare IT experience, and collaboration across teams. Remote work within the U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience as a full stack developer.
• 5+ years of experience with C# or Java.
• 3+ years of healthcare IT experience.
• 2+ years of understanding data structures, algorithms, SOLID concepts, and Git.

Responsibilities

• Lead a small engineering team in designing and developing software using AI-enabled development lifecycle (AIDLC) models.
• Expand and modernize a brownfield application to support new regulations and enhance existing capabilities.
• Contribute to design, development, testing, and deployment of software applications.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following established engineering standards and best practices.
• Participate in code reviews and incorporate feedback from senior engineers.
• Collaborate with team to translate business and technical requirements into working solutions.
• Assist with troubleshooting, debugging, and resolving software defects.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, stand ups, and retrospectives.
• Learn and apply new tools, frameworks, and technologies as part of ongoing professional development.
