Job summary

Toyota’s Enterprise Document Management Platform team seeks a Lead Software Engineer to scale enterprise solutions and guide a squad of engineers. You will collaborate with stakeholders, architects, and tech leads to deliver high-quality code and future-proof platform features.

You will lead design efforts, mentor engineers, and drive reliability, observability, and deployment safety across services in a cloud-first environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of software engineering experience with backend or full-stack focus at a principal engineer level.
• Proven ability to design, build, and maintain RESTful APIs, including contract design, versioning and error handling.
• Deep expertise in AWS architectures: serverless, containers, event-driven solutions (EC2, ECS, Lambda, Step Functions).
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and deployment strategies.
• Experience building observable systems to track distributed service performance and troubleshoot failures.
• Excellent collaboration and communication with product managers, architects and engineers.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions.
• Collaborate with product and cross-functional partner teams to align priorities and timelines.
• Lead design and architecture of platform-level features (design patterns, reliability, scaling, backup & restore).
• Proactively communicate technical risks, tradeoffs, and recommendations to stakeholders.
• Define and champion engineering and operational excellence: code quality, testing strategies, observability, deployment safety.
• Promote inclusive environment and mentor talent within TFS.
