Job summary

Blue Origin LLC is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to architect and build the Dataplane & Edge Infrastructure for the ambitious TeraWave PoP network. You will lead the design of ultra-high-performance data paths, implement wire-speed processing using DPDK and VPP, and drive edge networking capabilities across distributed PoPs.

You will mentor engineers, define coding standards, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate edge infrastructure with space-based communications,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• 10+ years of software engineering experience in high-performance networking or systems-level programming.
• Hands-on experience with DPDK and VPP, achieving maximum network performance.

Responsibilities

• Architect scalable, ultra-high-performance PoP infrastructure for TeraWave.
• Build and optimize dataplane to wire-speed processing; maximize throughput.
• Implement and fine-tune IP networking stacks (BGP, OSPF, routing logic).
• Lead performance engineering to remove bottlenecks between software and hardware.
• Mentor engineers; define standards for code quality and IaC patterns.
• Collaborate with teams to integrate PoP with satellite ecosystem.
• Drive continual improvement in dataplane methods, tooling, and deployment.
