Job summary

The Salvation Army in Fort Pierce, FL is seeking a Full Time Regular Social Services Assistant to help provide essential services to clients, including food, shelter, and financial assistance. Location: Position is located at 3629 S. US Hwy. 1, Fort Pierce

This position is responsible for:

Serves as lead worker by supervising and participating in the provision of social service assistance to eligible clients in the following areas: food, lodging, clothing, furniture, and financial assistance; interview clients to determine need and eligibility to receive services; prepares accurate and complete client records; refers clients to community agencies and maintains effective working relation-ships with the same; ensures compliance with program policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assesses client needs and eligibility; provides referrals as needed.
• Processes client assistance requests and related paperwork.
• Assists with Food Stamps, Medicaid, and ACCESS applications.
• Maintains client records and follow-up documentation.
• Manages food pantry inventory, storage, and compliance.
• Coordinates Food Bank orders and monthly reporting.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

• Ability to meet attendance requirements.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
• Ability to operate and answer a telephone.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR IN YOU: EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• High school diploma or equivalent,

• two years experience coordinating or managing work in an office environment preferably in the Social Services field
• or
• any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
