Job summary

The Salvation Army in Stuart, FL is seeking a part-time with benefits role to operate a Salvation Army vehicle, assist with custodial duties, and support social services on campus.

Requirements include a High School Diploma or GED, two years of vehicle operation experience, and six months of custodial/janitorial duties. A valid State Driver's License is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Two years of vehicle operation experience required.
• Six months of custodial/janitorial experience preferred.
• Equivalent training and experience may qualify you.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate a Salvation Army vehicle to pick up food donations, mail, supplies, and other materials while maintaining mileage logs and schedules.
• Assist with campus custodial duties, including collecting trash, maintaining grounds, and supporting cleanliness and appearance of buildings and outdoor areas.
• Perform light maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs, changing A/C filters, tightening door hardware, and addressing minor facility issues.
• Support Social Services and campus operations by preparing food boxes, transporting supplies, and assisting with room setups and special events as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

• Safely operate a Salvation Army vehicle to pick up food donations, mail, supplies, and other materials while maintaining accurate mileage logs and schedules.
• Assist with campus custodial duties, including collecting trash, maintaining grounds, and supporting the cleanliness and appearance of buildings and outdoor areas.
• Perform light maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs, changing A/C filters, tightening door hardware, and addressing minor facility issues.
• Support Social Services and campus operations by preparing food boxes, transporting supplies, and assisting with room setups and special events as needed.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

• Ability to safely operate a vehicle, including driving in heavy traffic, varying weather conditions, and occasional overnight travel.
• Strong communication skills, dependable attendance, and the ability to read, write, and understand English.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting up to 25 lbs., walking, standing, stooping, and climbing for extended periods.
• Willingness to work indoors and outdoors and support The Salvation Army's mission and religious purpose.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR IN YOU: EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• High School Diploma or G.E.D.
• and
• Two years experience operating an automotive vehicle, and six months experience performing general custodian/janitorial duties,
• or
• any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:

• Valid State Driver's License.
