Job summary

Vail Resorts is seeking a Ski Patrol team member to promote safety on the mountain, maintain trails, respond to emergencies, and provide care to injured guests and workers.

The position is winter seasonal 2026/2027 with full-time shifts and a starting wage of $24.00/hr – $30.61/hr; housing is available and 21+ is required.

Qualifications

• EMT or OEC certification required.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Five years of patrol experience required.
• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Ability to lift and transport 50 to 100 pounds with or without assistance.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, holidays, and weekends.
• Must be able to communicate fluently in English.

Responsibilities

• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of and enforce all applicable laws, policies, and procedures to ensure the safety of all guests.
• Maintain the safety and operation of trails through preventative procedures such as avalanche mitigation, tree and limb removal, and end-of-day sweeps to ensure all guests have exited safely.
• Establish, coordinate, and execute emergency and hazard response plans such as evacuations and search-and-rescue protocols.
• Assist and provide care to injured guests and workers, including transport via toboggan or air-lift support when necessary.
• Facilitate training, mentorship, and support of patrol members.
• Assist patrol leadership in daily operations, including organizing and assigning responsibilities, incident investigations, and hiring activities.
• Manage, oversee, and assign responsibilities to volunteers.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Outdoor Emergency Care (OEC) certification required.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Five years of previous patrol experience required; supervisory experience preferred.
• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Must be able to communicate fluently in English.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, holidays, and weekends.
• Ability to use all senses.
• Ability to lift and transport 50 to 100 pounds with or without assistance.
• Ability to frequently walk, stand, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and reach throughout the course of work in all climate conditions and at high elevations.

Compensation

The expected pay range is $24.00/hr – $30.61/hr. This is the range we reasonably expect to pay for this position; individual compensation decisions are based on various factors.
