Qualifications

• 10+ years hands-on experience in packaging design for optical/photonic components.
• Direct experience with PIC optical edge coupling and alignment techniques.
• End-to-end product development from design to volume production.
• In-depth knowledge of optical adhesives/epoxies and high-reliability constraints.
• Proven collaboration with contract manufacturers to ramp packaging processes.
• Strong reliability engineering knowledge and familiarity with testing standards.
• Proficient CAD tools for mechanical design and packaging layouts.

Responsibilities

• Design robust, high-yield processes for active and passive optical interfaces to PICs.
• Collaborate with IC and mechanical teams to minimize stress and ensure thermal stability.
• Coordinate with contract manufacturers for design, implementation, and scale-up.
• Define process controls, alignment tolerances, and metrology for high-volume production.
• Analyze assembly/packaging yield data to drive continuous improvements.
• Define test methodologies to characterize reliability under environmental/ mechanical stresses.
• Identify failure modes and work with design teams to implement corrective actions.
