Position Overview:

The Lead Shop Technician supervises all shop technicians, trains them across all service levels, and performs various automotive services including brakes, rotors, oil changes, transmission, differential, and cooling system maintenance. They ensure vehicle safety through preventative maintenance and oversee the final safety and quality checks.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and train shop technicians
  • Coordinate shop duties for efficiency and accuracy
  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs
  • Communicate with customers about services and pricing
  • Ensure safety procedures are followed
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment
  • Use diagnostic systems and vehicle information tools
  • Perform vehicle inspections and additional services as needed
  • Complete work orders and perform safety checks

Customer Relations:

  • Greet customers professionally, explain services and pricing
  • Maintain communication and a comfortable environment for customers
  • Review service details with customers and gather feedback
  • Handle customer complaints and damage claims

Additional Duties:

  • Assist with center maintenance and cleaning
  • Attend meetings and perform errands as needed

Job Qualifications:

  • Customer service skills
  • Basic literacy and communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to operate vehicles
  • Mechanical skills and experience (minimum 2 years as an automotive Lube tech)
  • Attention to detail and ability to work in tight spaces
  • Ability to perform various vehicle maintenance tasks
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn

Working Conditions:

  • Exposure to weather, noise, vehicle fumes
  • Physical activity including standing, walking, lifting

Requirements:

  • Ability to maintain all makes/models of vehicles
  • Work in tight spaces as needed
  • Commitment to service excellence
  • Automotive and retail experience preferred

Job Details:
