Job summary
Newport News Shipbuilding, a division of Huntington Ingalls Industries, is seeking a Foreman to supervise skilled trades and coordinate work on shipbuilding projects in Newport News. You will oversee training, ensure adherence to drawings and procedures, and manage operations with significant financial impact.
The position is full-time, 1st shift, with a $5,000 sign-on bonus and a comprehensive benefits package. U.S. citizenship is required for this role.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent education/experience as required.
- Trade/apprentice certification acceptable for consideration.
- Extensive manufacturing or shipbuilding experience preferred.
- Associate degree with relevant experience also qualifies.
Responsibilities
- Supervises and evaluates semi-skilled and skilled trades personnel by skill and job knowledge.
- Trains employees to improve quality and productivity and develops procedures.
- Ensures compliance with drawings and procedures and supervises key processes.
- Oversees manufacturing, installation, operation, testing and cost-impact activities.
- Monitors budget and performance across shifts.
