Job summary

Newport News Shipbuilding, a division of Huntington Ingalls Industries, is seeking a Foreman to supervise and coordinate trades personnel, aligning with skill and experience to ensure quality and productivity.

Responsibilities include training, enforcing drawings and procedures, overseeing manufacturing, installation, operation, and testing with significant financial impact, and monitoring budget across shifts. A sign-on bonus of $5,000 is offered for new foremen

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree OR
Apprentice Certification OR
High School and 4 years combined manufacturing, shipbuilding, trades, military experience OR
Associate Degree in a Trade/Technical and 3 years of relevant manufacturing, shipbuilding, trade and/or military experience

Responsibilities

Supervises, assigns, coordinates and evaluates semi-skilled and skilled trades personnel according to their skill, experience and job knowledge.
Supervises and trains employees to improve quality and quantity of work performed.
Breaks broad strategies down to practical action plans and ensures employees are trained to perform these plans.
Responsible for manufacturing, installation, operation, testing, and process operations that have a significant financial impact on the company's performance.
Supervises qualified trades staff; monitoring job and budget performance for all shifts.
