Job summary

Newport News Shipbuilding, a division of Huntington Ingalls Industries, is seeking a 2nd shift Foreman to supervise and coordinate skilled trades personnel. This role emphasizes training, process adherence, and adherence to drawings and procedures in a high‑stakes manufacturing environment.

The position offers a $5,000 sign-on bonus for new foreman hires, with a core focus on safety, quality, and productivity across shifts. Requires relevant manufacturing, shipbuilding, or military experience.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree OR Apprentice Certification OR
High School and 4 years combined manufacturing, shipbuilding, trades, military experience OR
Associate Degree in a Trade/Technical and 3 years of relevant manufacturing, shipbuilding, trade and/or military experience

Responsibilities

Supervises, assigns, coordinates and evaluates semi-skilled and skilled trades personnel.
Trains employees to improve quality and quantity of work performed.
Breaks broad strategies into practical action plans and ensures training to perform these plans.
Responsible for complying with all technical aspects of the job including drawings and procedures.
Oversees manufacturing, installation, operation, testing and process operations with significant financial impact.
Monitors budget and performance for all shifts.
