Job summary

Mary's Woods in Lake Oswego, OR is seeking a Lead Server to guide a team in delivering exceptional dining service to residents and guests. You will train staff, ensure consistent service standards, and uphold a clean, welcoming dining environment.

As a Lead Server you will manage opening/closing duties, handle guest issues with professionalism, and collaborate with the Dining Services team to maintain an outstanding guest experience.

Qualifications

• Minimum one year of serving or front-of-house experience.
• Minimum six months of leadership experience in restaurants, hotels or retirement preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support the training of team members to ensure consistency in the steps of service.
• Provide direction and guidance to all front-of-house service staff in the absence of a supervisor or a manager.
• Resolve guest issues encountered by the service staff in the absence of a supervisor or a manager.
• Maintain knowledge of the restaurant computer system for placing food orders and know all menu items, prices and specifications.
• Monitor cleanliness, sanitation and organization of the station and service areas.
• Complete opening and closing duties and side work as designated by procedures.
• Demonstrate knowledge of menu offerings, daily specials, soups, desserts and beverage program.

Mary's Woods is looking for a Lead Server for with exceptional communication and customer service skills to support our Dining Services department. As a Lead Server, you will be leading a team of servers and serving meals while creating a clean and beautiful table for residents and guests to enjoy. You must be able to relate positively and favorably to staff, residents and families and enjoy working on a team while continuing to promote our mission and vision.

Mary's Woods is a non-profit senior living community founded in 2001. We offer independent living, assisted living, memory care and residential care in a park-like setting on 40 acres in Lake Oswego. Below are some of the core responsibilities, experience and skills needed to be successful:

• Support the training of team members to ensure consistency in the steps of service.
• Provide direction and guidance to all front-of-house service staff in the absence of a supervisor or a manager.

• Key access to POS in the absence of a supervisor or a manager.
• Maintain complete knowledge of restaurant computer system for placing food orders.
• Learn and know all menu items, prices and specifications.
• Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned station and service areas.
• Complete opening and closing duties as well as appropriate side work as designated by established procedures.
• Enjoys learning about food and food service and building professional relationships with residents and staff.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Maintains pleasant and courteous demeanor with staff and guests while taking orders, serving food, bussing tables, and doing side work.
• Demonstrates knowledge of menu offerings including daily specials, soups, desserts, and our beverage program.
• Properly completes daily side work for opening and closing the restaurant.
• Demonstrates knowledge of food sanitation, workplace safety, housekeeping procedures, and food service techniques.
• Communicates with managers on department matters and concerns involving residents, employees, other departments, safety, and sanitation.
• Other duties may include those of Host, Barista, and Bartender with some guidelines and etiquette specific to those duties, additional training will be provided

Education and Experience Required:

• Minimum one (1) year of serving or front-of-house experience required
• Minimum six months of leadership experience in restaurants, hotels or retirement preferred

Schedule Available:

• This is a full time position and requires the ability and willingness to work flexible hours and days, including weekends and holidays.
