Job summary

Sandia National Laboratories is seeking a Cleared Senior/Principal R&D Systems Engineer to lead the Advanced Fuzing Technologies PRT. This onsite role focuses on delivering high‑rigor flight components that support national security, through leadership, technical excellence, and rigorous engineering discipline.

You will guide a multidisciplinary team, maintain design intent through trade studies, lead anomaly investigations, and present results to peers and management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline with 5 years of related experience.
• Active DOE Q clearance, or equivalent, to start.
• Experience designing, qualifying, and producing ESADs and conventional fuzing.
• Experience with RCC-319 and MIL-STD-1316.
• Strong verbal and written communication; ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Lead staff and technologists toward milestones for safety critical components.
• Field high-integrity products meeting technical and programmatic requirements.
• Lead resolution of ambiguous problems with a multi-disciplinary team.
• Maintain design intent through requirements negotiation and trade studies.
• Lead investigations and resolution of anomalies via analysis and testing.
• Present work to peers, customers, and management in formal settings.
• Apply project management to structure activity and priorities.
