Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a mid- to senior-level Sediment Remediation Engineer to lead and contribute on sediment remediation projects for Federal and Public sector clients. The role involves independent work and leading teams, applying knowledge of remediation technologies, and coordinating with clients and stakeholders.

The candidate should have a PE license, a civil/environmental/chemical engineering background, and about 7 years of related experience, with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental or Chemical Engineering or related discipline is required.
• Professional Engineering (PE) license is required.
• 7 years of related experience preferred.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required. Travel frequency is contingent on duties and workload.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Responsibilities

• Provide expertise evaluating feasibility of sediment remediation technologies and design sediment remediation for riverine, coastal, riparian/floodplain, and port sites with multiple stakeholders.
• Understand principles of sediment and contaminant transport, environmental site assessment, sampling/monitoring, cap modeling, dredge approaches, remedial action design/construction.
• Support mathematical/statistical evaluations of environmental data sets.
• Serve as CDM Smith’s task manager on sediments sites; communicate technical strategy to client and coordinate with SMEs.
• Possess in-depth knowledge of CERCLA, GLRA, and other regulatory steps for contaminated sediment sites.
• Act as a technical liaison with client, public, and outside consultants; communicate complex evaluations to non-experts.
• Lead other staff in preparing and reviewing technical information to ensure regulatory compliance and quality.
