In order to be rated as qualified for this position, the HR Office must be able to determine that you meet the specialized experience requirement - this information must be clearly supported in the resume.
To qualify at the GS-08, you must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to at least the GS-07 level in federal service having demonstrated experience working with:
Acceptable experience includes service in the Armed Services or Coast Guard that involved the performance of guard duties on a regular basis. Preferred candidates will have specialized experience gained through service in a combat arms (e.g., infantry, armor, special operations) or combat support (e.g., military police, field artillery, military occupational specialty) in any of the armed services.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
You must meet all Eligibility and Qualification requirements, including any selective placement factors if applicable, by 04/28/2026.
All security guard personnel hired for the Bureau of Reclamation (BOR) must meet all the following conditions. If an employee cannot meet these requirements, they will be removed from Federal service.
