Job summary

UT-Battelle in Oak Ridge, TN, seeks a Senior Linux Engineer to lead the design and modernization of secure Linux environments supporting critical national security and scientific missions. You will guide architecture and automation initiatives across RMF, NIST, and STIGs while mentoring other engineers.

You will operate at the intersection of Linux engineering, cybersecurity, HPC, and AI/ML, delivering scalable solutions with a focus on reliability and performance in classified environments.

Qualifications

• BS degree in a related technical field and at least eight years of Linux systems engineering or administration experience.
• Current Top-Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.
• Advanced expertise in RHEL/Linux engineering, architecture, troubleshooting, performance optimization, and lifecycle management.
• Demonstrated experience with Ansible, Python, Bash, automation, and infrastructure-as-code practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, engineering, and modernization of secure Linux infrastructure supporting classified missions.
• Architect, build, optimize, and sustain enterprise Linux platforms (RHEL/Ubuntu) across environments.
• Drive automation and modernization using Ansible, Python, Bash, Git, and IaC.
• Design and implement secure computing solutions aligned with RMF, NIST 800-53, STIGs, and ICD 503.
• Collaborate with cybersecurity, networking, storage, and mission teams to deliver secure, scalable solutions.
